Spox: Raiffeisen investigates alleged Russian money laundering
VIENNA, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) is holding an internal investigation of a case of alleged Russian money laundering, representative of RBI Ingrid Krenn-Ditz told PRIME on Tuesday.
“RBI fulfills all requirements of counteraction to money laundering. Our systems and processes of fulfillment of these requirements have tested and continue to test third organizations, their meeting lawful requirements is confirmed. At the same time, RBI treats media accusations seriously and is conducting an internal investigation,” she said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported, citing data from Addendum.org that fund Hermitage had sent a suit to the Austrian prosecutors concerning laundering of money obtained by tax evasion in Russia by RBI predecessor RZB. The total amount is estimated at U.S. $967 million.
